In a culture driven by consumption and idealized beauty, Pretty Ugly Magazine challenges conventional standards by celebrating what is often dismissed as unattractive. The magazine centers on objects, aesthetics, and ideas that fall outside traditional notions of beauty, finding value in their stories, communities, and makers.
Through expressive typography and a flexible layout system, the publication embraces kitsch and camp as meaningful forms of expression. Designed for millennial creatives, Pretty Ugly reframes the idea of beauty, suggesting that awkward, strange, or imperfect qualities can carry their own distinct charm.
