A New Year greeting becomes an exploration of texture, form, and cultural memory. Created to mark the Year of the Tiger(2022), the piece pairs a tactile card with a small rug, using latch hook techniques to build soft, dimensional letterforms. The tiger’s form draws inspiration from Korean folk painting, lending a playful yet symbolic presence, while the numerals rest across its back so that material and typography merge into a single tactile surface.
The card is housed in an envelope inspired by traditional Korean lucky charm pouches and finished with a norigae tassel. Familiar symbols are reinterpreted through handcrafted texture and playful construction, balancing reverence with a contemporary sensibility.
